RCCO Toronto Centre Centennial

One hundred years ago today, at a meeting in Toronto’s Arts and Letters Club on Elm Street, the Toronto Centre of what was then called the Canadian College of Organists was formed (the CCO would gain the “Royal” prefix in 1959). The Executive Council of the CCO consisted of organ luminaries Thomas J. Crawford, Herbert Fricker, Albert Ham, Ernest MacMillan, Harvey Robb, Richard Tattersall, and Healey Willan. Robb became the Chairman of the new Toronto Council (Centre), with Peter C. Kennedy as Vice-Chairman. The Canadian College of Organists had been founded in Brantford, Ontario as the Canadian Guild of Organists (the name change to CCO happened in 1920). Today there are 27 RCCO centres, from coast to coast.
